A Day in the Life of an HVAC Technician: Keeping Lakeland Cool

Rise and Shine

My day as an HVAC technician at Ryals Brothers starts early. I’m up at 6 AM, grabbing a quick breakfast before heading out to our first service call in Lakeland, FL. The Florida heat doesn’t mess around, so we like to get an early start.

Morning Maintenance

Our first stop is a routine maintenance check for a central air system in Winter Haven. These preventative visits are crucial for:

  • Ensuring optimal performance
  • Catching potential issues early
  • Extending the lifespan of HVAC systems

I clean the coils, check refrigerant levels, and replace the air filter. The homeowner is pleased with the quick service, and we’re off to our next call.

Midday Emergency

Around noon, we receive an urgent call from a business in Plant City. Their AC has completely shut down, and with temperatures soaring, it’s a critical situation. We rush over to diagnose the problem, which turns out to be a faulty compressor. It’s a challenging repair, but we manage to get their system up and running again by mid-afternoon.

Afternoon Installation

Our final task of the day is installing a new HVAC system in a home in Bartow. It’s a big job, requiring precision and teamwork. We work efficiently, explaining the process to the homeowner as we go. By early evening, the new system is humming along nicely, and another satisfied customer is enjoying cool, comfortable air.

Wrapping Up

As the sun sets, I head back to the Ryals Brothers office in Lakeland to file my reports and prep for tomorrow. It’s been a long day, but knowing I’ve helped keep my community comfortable makes it all worthwhile. Tomorrow, we’ll do it all again in Mulberry, Lake Alfred, and beyond!
